পরিচিত জগৎ। গত দুই বছর ধরে তিনি দিল্লির Sai Swayam Society (SSS) School for the Deaf-এ একজন বধির শিক্ষিকা হিসেবে কাজ করছেন। তিনি এমন শিক্ষা দেন, যে ধরনের শিক্ষা তিনি নিজে গাজিয়াবাদের একটি সাধারণ স্কুলে পড়ার সময় পাননি।\nসিমরান জন্ম থেকেই বধির। তিনি ছিলেন দুই বধির বাবা-মায়ের প্রথম সন্তান। তাঁর বাবা প্রদীপ কুমার (৩৬) একটি ক্যান্ডি তৈরির সংস্থায় কাজ করেন এবং তাঁর মা গীতা দেবী (৩৯) করতে পারতেন, কিন্তু স্কুলের অধ্যক্ষ তাঁকে ইংরেজি মাধ্যমে ভর্তি হতে দেননি।\n“বধির মানুষদের জন্য হিন্দি শেখা কঠিন,” সিমরান বলেন। “এই কারণেই আমি হিন্দিতে এবং সামাজিক বিজ্ঞান ও বিজ্ঞানের মতো অন্যান্য অন্য শিশুরা নানা কথা বলত। তারা তাকে জিজ্ঞেস করত, “তুমি ওই বধির মেয়েটির সঙ্গে বন্ধুত্ব করেছ কেন?”\nকিন্তু সিমরান হাল ছাড়েননি। পঞ্চম শ্রেণিতে উঠতে উঠতে তাঁর চারজন বন্ধু হয়েছিল। তিনি তাঁদের সাইন বর্ণমালা এবং ‘হ্যালো’, ‘জল’, ‘খুশি’ ও ‘খাওয়া’র মতো সহজ শব্দের সাইন শেখাতেন।\nতাঁদের সাইন করতে দেখে অন্য শিশুরাও এতে আগ্রহী হয়ে ওঠে। কখনও কখনও ক্লাসে সবাই সিমরানের হয়ে এবং শিক্ষকের কথাও সাইন বা ইশারার মাধ্যমে বুঝিয়ে দিতে শুরু করত। এতে ক্লাসে বাধা সৃষ্টি হওয়ায় বিরক্ত শিক্ষক তাদের থামিয়ে দিতেন।\nদশম শ্রেণির পর তিনি গাজিয়াবাদের Saraswati Shiksha Niketan Inter College-এ ভর্তি হন। সেখানে তিনি হোম সায়েন্স ও আর্টস নিয়ে পড়াশোনা করেন। দ্বাদশ শ্রেণিতে তিনি ৬৩ শতাংশ নম্বর পান।\nএরপর তিনি অবশেষে Noida Deaf Society (NDS)-এ ভারতীয় সাইন ল্যাঙ্গুয়েজ শেখেন। এটি একটি এনজিও, যেখানে আট মাসের প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হয়েছিল। এই প্রশিক্ষণে কম্পিউটার, ইংরেজি এবং ব্যক্তিগত উন্নয়নের বিষয়ও অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিল।\n“আমি NDS-এ অনেক কিছু শিখেছি,” তিনি বলেন। “আমি নিজের কথা প্রকাশ করতে পারতাম। আমার মনে হয়েছিল, তিনি জানতে পারেন যে প্রতিটি রাজ্য বা ভাষার নিজস্ব কিছু সাইন রয়েছে।\nপ্রথমে এতে তিনি কিছুটা বিভ্রান্ত হয়ে পড়েছিলেন। কিন্তু তাঁর এক বন্ধু প্রীতি তাঁকে উৎসাহ দিয়ে পড়াশোনা চালিয়ে যেতে বলেন।\n“ওখানে বধিরদের সংস্কৃতি, পরিচয় এবং ইতিহাসও শেখানো হয়,” সিমরান স্মৃতিচারণ করে বলেন।\nধীরে ধীরে তাঁর উন্নতি হতে থাকে। দ্বিতীয় বছরে পৌঁছে তিনি নিজের বক্তৃতা বা পাঠ নিজেই প্রস্তুত করার মতো আত্মবিশ্বাস অর্জন করেন।\n২০২৪ সালে তিনি কোর্সটি সম্পূর্ণ করেন। এরপর চাকরি খোঁজার মাত্র তিন মাসের মধ্যেই তিনি SSS স্কুলে শিক্ষকতার চাকরি পেয়ে যান।\nসিমরান প্রথমে শুধু নার্সারি ও কিন্ডারগার্টেনের ছাত্রছাত্রীদের পড়াতেন। কিন্তু SSS-এর CEO মীরা চেতন ভাটিয়া তাঁকে উচ্চতর শ্রেণিগুলিও পড়ানোর জন্য উৎসাহিত করেন।\nএখন তিনি পঞ্চম ও ষষ্ঠ শ্রেণির সমস্ত বিষয় এবং একাদশ ও দ্বাদশ শ্রেণির ইংরেজি পড়ান। তিনি আত্মবিশ্বাসের সঙ্গে বিভিন্ন ধরনের দৃশ্যভিত্তিক শিক্ষাসামগ্রী ব্যবহার করেন।\nসিমরান নিজেই যাতায়াত করেন। এক্ষেত্রে মোবাইল ফোন তাঁর জন্য অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সহায়ক হয়েছে।\nঅবসর সময়ে তিনি কী করতে ভালোবাসেন—এই প্রশ্নের উত্তরে তিনি বলেন, “আমি সবসময় আমার ইংরেজি আরও ভালো করার চেষ্টা করি।”\nতবে তাঁর জীবনের আরও কিছু দিক রয়েছে।\nতাঁর মা গীতা দেবী Deaf Chess-এ রৌপ্যপদক জিতেছেন এবং তিনিই সিমরানকে দাবা খেলতে শিখিয়েছেন।
